Surprise! You think you're ready and when you go to vote, there are things to check off that you know nothing about. This year is no exception. In addition to the expected candidates, there is a ratify vote for an Indiana constitutional amendment and also a host of retention choices on justices. Click here for more information. Surprise! You go to the polling place you've used for years and find that it has mysteriously moved. Many polling places have changed. Go to Indianavoters portal to check your voting location before heading for the polls. - Ralf Shaw and Monica Clemons | Thank you to everyone who participated in making our 24 tabling events for voter registration from August 20 at IVY Tech to October 4 at IU. If we missed anyone else who contributed to registering and informing voters, please know your service is appreciated. - Monica Clemons and Ralf Shaw | October Podcast Features Monroe County Prosecutor | During the October 2024 edition of Civic Conversations, we welcomed Erika Oliphant of the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutor Oliphant shared how her office determines what cases to prosecute, the role of the prosecutor, and how plea bargains impact what cases are brought to court. She also talked about the current research study on how racial and ethnic biases impact the cases brought to court. Her office works with the NAACP Monroe County Branch on this critical study. - Becky Hill and Jim Allison | | | Join Us for the League's Winter Gathering on December 3 | "Save the Date" for the winter League gathering on Tuesday, December 3. The event will take place at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 3800 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN from 6:00-7:30 pm. This is an opportunity for both members and friends to meet, socialize, and learn about what activities are coming up. Not a member? No problem! Anyone interested in the League is welcome.
