The Climate Change Unit provides information and resources for effective engagement in climate solutions, through both personal actions and advocacy for large-scale policies. Participatory democracy is a powerful tool for addressing the scope of the climate crisis, and the challenges we face call on every one of us to take action.
We base our work on the LWVUS Position Statement on Climate Change, which supports “climate goals and policies that are consistent with the best available climate science and that will ensure a stable climate system for future generations. Individuals, communities, and governments must continue to address this issue."
The LWV-BMC is a community partner with the South Central Indiana chapter of https://citizensclimatelobby.org, a nonpartisan organization which advocates for a federal price on carbon emissions as an essential part of effective climate policy. At the 2018 LWVUS Convention, delegates voted overwhelmingly in support of “efforts to price carbon emissions.”
