About this event
70 Years Post-Brown: Looking to the Past, Transforming the Future
Sunday, October 13, 2024, 3-5 p.m.
Monroe County Public Library - Downtown
303 E. Kirkwood Ave., Bloomington, IN 47408
In the 1954 landmark case, Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional.
In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of this historic decision, the Monroe County NAACP invites the public to join us for engaging, action-oriented dialogue focused on improving the educational experiences of youth in our local community.
We aim to move beyond simply honoring a historical moment and toward a renewed commitment to equitable, quality education for all youth.
Panelists Vivian Brigwaters-Gray, Frank Motley, J.D., DaJuan Pearson, and Jael Davis, will share historical context and perspectives from different generations. After Q&A, we will break into facilitated small groups to continue the dialogue.
